Baborák-Kikuchi

Radek Baborak and Yoko Kikuchi first met in 2006 when recording for Exton with The Afflatus Quintet. Their decision to perform also as a duo was catalysed by the fact that Yoko has resettled to Berlin where Radek at the time was residing as a horn soloist with the Berliner Philharmoniker.

In 2009 they started to rehearse an equity repertoire for the horn and piano (Sonata F-major, op.17 by Beethoven, Adagio & Allegro by Schumann, Sonatas 1939 and 1943 by Hindemit, and the Horn trio E-flat, op. 40) and collaterally they worked up a number of transcriptions that enrich and broaden the interpretative, sound and technical potentialities of the horn-piano duo (Sonata for viola da gamba and cembalo by Bach, Sonata #4 C-major for cello and piano by Beethoven, also Beethoven’s Sonata #27/2 Veranderung in Klebe’s adaptation for horn and piano, the Fantasy Piece and Romancies by Schumann, and Sonata #1 E-minor for cello and piano by Brahms…) The Kukuchi-Baborak Duo’s abundant repertoire abounds with compositions of all eras and genres.
